Today I had my first time teaching in
the advanced course.
This time I did not have to teach grammar,
I only had to provide some practice. I arrived early to the classroom in order
to prepare everything. This time I was not nervous the only thing is that I did
not feel well because I got flu and cough, so it was difficult for me to be explaining
and giving directions. But anyways as teachers we had to do our best even when
we do not feel so good. I started the class with the activity called ´´Find
Someone Who´´; students had to go around the classroom in order to complete the
activity.
The group is nice but the only problem is that most of them are
latecomers. And unfortunately by the time I started the class most of the
students were missing, there were only five or six students, later I checked
some of their answers. Then I asked them to work in groups of three, they played
a board game in which students had to create questions using future perfect and
future perfect progressive. Later we checked some of the questions they made. As
a last activity I had a role play, I gave them different situations. They had
to work in pairs; I gave them some time in order to prepare the role play. Fortunately
time was enough, so all the students had the chance to pass and performed their
situation.
Connie, I think games are very essential for advanced learners. In this case I always use games such as "find someone who", the same you did!. It involves speaking, and writing as well. Great job Connie!! Keep on working hard!! Blessings
